Can I sell an iPhone with a contract?

I want to sell my iphone 4 that has 18 months left on contract. If I sign over the contract to someone can I still "sell" the phone to them and get money for it?

You could sell the iPhone (since it's the sim card you're paying for rather than the iPhone itself) and just continue to pay you're contract as usual.

You can sell the phone at any time, however the phone is connected to the contract and if for any reason you don't pay the monthly rentals the phone could get barred by the network, meaning it will stop working.

You could sell your phone to sites like:

www.mazumamobile.co.uk
www.sellbuyexchange.co.uk

I would be very careful indeed about selling a phone that is in contract. Legally, financially and for insurance purposes you are liable for anything done to the phone, or by the phone. It's like selling your car: if you had payments owing on a car and you sold it to someone else, you are still liable for anything that that person does in the car, because the finance company will hold you responsible, and so will the insurers.

Be vary wary of doing this.
