Can I switch the phone I'm using through my account with no charge?

I'm buying a used iPhone that is compatible with Verizon (I already checked through my online account). I have a Galaxy 7 now. I'm wondering if I can switch my number from the Galaxy to the iPhone. Would I be able to do that, from my home, with no charge?

Added (1). It's too late to call Verizon right now so I was hoping for some experiences from others.

You should call Verizon and ask, I'm sure they'll tell you. But um what ya doing with that Galaxy 7?

All you do is log onto the activation site for Verizon, plug in the information on the new phone and that takes care of activated it on your account. Your account is where the phone number resides, once activated, the new phone will ring to your number.

Just make 100% sure that the phone you are going to activate has also been unlocked to work on another carrier.

You can just call Verizon and activate it on your account or you can do it from your account. You'll have to login to your My Verizon account and go to the Bring Your Own Device / Switch section, it'll ask if you want to activate a phone on your current account, follow the on-screen instructions and enter the Device ID which is nothing but the MEID of the phone which you'll find on the back / side of the box or in your phone. Some text verification will be sent to your phone and you'll have to enter that there. Once done, your new phone will be activated on your account.
