You can download "find my iphone" on any apple device and log in with your apple account and it tracks down your iphone. If your connected to Wi-Fi or have 4g or 3g turned on.
Don't see how you plan to use Skype to do that.

The problem with "Find my Iphone" is that it only works when your phone is on, so if your phone is dead and lost your screwed. If the phone kept updating its location until it was dead, it would help me find it… I don't mind being tracked, I'm sure Apple is tracking my location anyways.
