Can i unlock my iphone 4s myself? Or do i have to take it somewhere?

Your phone does NOT need to be unlocked to use Straight Talk. Not even joking. Go buy that service right now. I own an iPhone business and many of my customers use Straight Talk with perfectly normal phones that are not unlocked. I promise you, it will work.
Only needs to be unlocked for about every other carrier such as T Mobile, Simple Mobile, etc.
