Can I update my iPhone without backing up my camera roll?
So if you go on your iPhone to Settings>General>Usage>Manage Storage>This iPhone(which is the phone I'm using) it shows my backup information for my iPhone. I don't have anything backed up (in the picture) because it takes up way too much space on my phone. Is it possible for me to update my phone to the newest iOS without losing all of my pictures? I'm not sure how iCloud works even though I have had it for years but please help! I need to update my phone but I don't want to lose my pictures or contacts or anything.
Back it up to your PC/Mac. With the size of your camera roll, it will easily take more than 30 minutes to back it up. On the bright side, you won't lose the pictures, and I'm sure you can import them after you've backed it up. I'm not sure about this, since I haven't owned an iPhone since the 4, but you shouldn't lose your pictures if the update isn't too big. Hope I helped!

I tried backing up my data on icloud a few days ago, but some apps did not backup because it said it needed a certain amount of space on my phone to do so.
