Can I upgrade my iphone on a contract?
I have no clue how it works, say i have only had the 4S for a few weeks then wanted to upgrade to the iphone 5? Is that possible, or do you have to wait a certain amount of time?
When you take out a contract with a phone, you can't upgrade your phone until the end of the contract term. Generally, you can upgrade within the last month, though. Some operators allow you to upgrade up to 3 months before the end of contract term (I know Vodafone do this, not sure about any of the others, though).
So, you will not be able to upgrade a phone after just a few weeks, you will need to wait the term of the contract. However, there's nothing stopping you buying your own phone and use that one instead (and since the iPhone takes micro sims there will be no problems doing this).
Changing the contract at an earlier stage would mean it would be classed as an early termination, and it would be very costly to do this - the charges would be your monthly tariff fee x months left on contract and likely an early termination fee on top.So, if you really don't like the phone, you would likely be cheaper to just buy the new phone!
