Can I use an iPhone 4s bought in China in Canada?

I'm moving home to Canada soon and hearing that the contracts from the big carriers are very expensive and should be avoided. So I'm thinking about getting an iPhone 4s or 5 from Mainland or HK before coming home since you don't need to sign a contract and aren't tethered to a carrier. Will this work though brining an HK or China iPhone home?

They will definitely work. Because if the phone you buy isn't tethered to a carrier- it is unlocked. And if not- you could always get it unlocked, which is usually $5-10.

I have bought phones in Hong Kong before- the ones that don't require contracts. If you still aren't too sure about it, just ask the salesperson, they should probably have good knowledge on the phone itself and the networks it will/will not work on; and whether or not the phone is unlocked.

If you buy an unlocked iphone yes…

  • Should an iPad bought in Canada work with Airpods from Ireland? I bought airpods off a seller in Ireland for 140 euros and the Airpods aren't connected to my iPad's bluetooth. I tried 2 other Bluetooth headphones and they both connected to my iPad. I messaged the seller and he said it's probably because my iPad was bought from Canada and so it's not compatible. Is this true? I got my iPad just a month ago in Alberta, Canada?
  • IPhone case bought from China smells like CHEMICALS! I bought a rubber/silicone iPhone case for $2.51 (USD) from a company in Shenzhen, China. It SMELLS BAD. Like chemicals. It sorta hurts my lungs but I'm sick right now, so. I also rubbed my eyes after handling it and my eyes and my face burn a bit. How do I get rid of this smell and stop it from burning my eyes?
