Can i use an unactivated iphone 4 as an ipod touch?
So i have a 4s on sprint currently but the memory goes so fast i don't want to waste the space on music and other apps. So i was thinking I could buy a used iphone 4 on sprint and use it as an ipod touch. Can i use facetime and imessage though and register it through my apple id and use it over Wi-Fi? And also would I be able to upgrade to ios7 over Wi-Fi or itunes when it comes out? Or would I need to activate it?
Added (1). So wait can I use it as an ipod touch orr not. It would be a sprint Iphone 4 which does have a front camera. All i want is facetime and imessage of course with other apps and music but i don't want to activate it, just register it to my apple id. Also could I get ios 7 when it comes out if the phone isn't activated?
You can do iMessage on any phone. But you can't change a iPhone to an iPod touch so you are going to have to stick with an iPod. If you would like an iPod, just trade in your iPhone and so you can get enough money to buy an iPod. If you want to keep your iPhone though, then you will have to save up you money. You could use it as an ipod touch, yes, many do that. Does 4 have a front facing camera or is it only 4S and later? I forget but if you want facetime then thats a critical thing. You could use it for texting with imessage, for iOS 7 who knows since its not officially out.
- Use iPhone 5c as iPod with UNACTIVATED SIM card WITHOUT computer? So my UNACTIVATED SIM card just came in the mail and I didn't realize that my PC graphics card is dead, so I can't access iTunes and I would like to know if there's a way for me to use my iPhone 5c as an iPod with an inactive SIM card. Currently, my iPhone 5c is at the setup screen and I can't get past it with my inactive SIM card.
