Can I use an unlocked iphone on my Verizon plan?

I'm in the middle of a 2-year contract and my phone broke. Can I buy an unlocked iphone and switch my number to it? Please provide sources!

The only kind of phones that can be used with Verizon are other Verizon phones, so you would need a *Verizon* iPhone, not just any iPhone.

As far as locked vs.unlocked, that really doesn't apply to CDMA systems like Verizon and Sprint. Unlocked only matters for AT&T and T-Mobile which are GSM systems with SIM cards.

When buying a used Verizon phone, instead of asking whether it's locked, you need to ask the seller if it's got a clean ESN (the phone's unique hardware ID). Phones that were marked as lost or stolen by Verizon will have a bad ESN and can't be activated again.

Unlocked iPhone won't work on Verizon. You need Verizon iPhone if you want to use the phone on Verizon. If you need iPhone without contract for Verizon at reasonable price, mail me to yonoulee@gmx.com

No it will not work.
