Can i use my iphone as a router?

Ok so I have home internet and its connected to my desktop only, my dad refuses to buy a router is there a way i can use my iphone to connect to my pc and get the internet and make it basically a router. (i have an iphone 4s ios 6.1 jailbreak) and will it matter if this pc isn't the one I sync my iphone to? Sorry if this doesn't make sense.

Nope. In order for something like that to work it would have to have two networking adapters which it doesn't.

Well if it is already jailbroken, you can add sinfuliphonerepo.com to your sources in Cydia.within the repository there should be a package called tetherMe cracked. Get that and Wi-Fi hotspot should be enabled on settings. This may not work on ios 6.1 but surely worked for ios 5.x. Give it a shot!

Since you are on ios 6.1 go to settings,
personal hotspot
then set it up

There's not a way to plug your phone into a computer and make it a router.

My method lets you use your 3g or 4g signal and turn it into a Wi-Fi network. Which will work fine, if of course you have unlimeted data plan

Sadly you can't, how ever you may not know this but wireless routers have gotten quiet cheap recently. You can pick up one from your local tech store for as low as $15. They are also the easiest thing to setup.

~To set up a wireless router~
1. Plug the power into the router.
2. Plug the ethernet cable into the slot labled WAN or internet.
3. Your router should now be working. (Check the side of the router for a network name and password)

4. If you don't see a name plug a nother ethernet cable with one side in the other slot of the router and the other end in a computer's port.
5. Check the side of the router for an IP (Normaly starts with 192)
6. On the compuer connected to the router through the cable put that ip in your address bar.
7. This will take you to a site were you can change the settings.
login using the username on the side of your router. (Default login: admin Password: [blank])
8. Edit your name and passwords to your liking.

The simplest thing would be to get a Wi-Fi dongle and plug it into your computer then use connectify me to turn it into a Wi-Fi hotspot, this will use the existing Ethernet connection.
