Can i use my iphone in mexico?

I don't want to call/text. Can i connect to the hotel's Wi-Fi and besides the Wi-Fi charge, be free of charges made to my phone plan?

I have a friend in canada.
i spent a day there to visit him and used a text messaging/call app to contact family in the US and my grandma who was in mexico for a couple months.
phone bill came and no extra charges.

I believe if you have airplane mode on, you can still turn on Wi-Fi to connect to hotels or cafes etc that have it; i have not tried this but learned about doing this after questioning the same issue

Wi-Fi is the same everywhere. The hotel may have a daily fee for Wi-Fi access, but other than that there's no usage charges.

You can use your iPhone to connect to Wi-Fi, yes. I would just turn off the cellular data to be on the safe side. Go into Setting > General > Cellular > off

Then just use it like anything else to log onto Wi-Fi at the resort. Have fun! Love Mexico!

  • Will Verizon charge me more if I use my iPhone in Mexico? I live in the US, but will be traveling to Mexico within the next month. Will Verizon charge me if I go onto Twitter or Instagram or Facebook while in Mexico?

I called Verizon and they told me the phone WOULD work in Mexico. Does anyone have any experience using an iPhone 4 through Verizon in Mexico?
  • Will I be able to use 'Talkatone while in Mexico to call the US? Going to Mexico for a month. Would be nice to know if "Talkatone" app on iphone will work in Mexico, for call the United States. Anyone know. Conflicting answers on google. Thanks It is free calling to the US & Canada. But would it be free calling to the US From Mexico?
