Can iPhone 3G's be updated from 4.2.1 ios?

I have an iPhone 3G and I'm sick of the games and apps not working because I need a higher iOS and I don't have the money for a new iPhone.

No, iOS 4.2.1 is the newest OS for your iPhone. I would recommend buying a cheep iPhone 3GS off of eBay or Craigslist. With a 3GS, you will be able to upgrade to iOS 6.0.1. The only downside would be that, I'm pretty sure that updates for the 3GS will cease upon the release of iOS7

  • Updated iPhone iOS 6.0 and it deleted All MY CONTACTS I do not have anything stored on icloud. Now, I do have all my stuff stored to my computer on iTunes, i just tried to restore my iPhone, but my contacts are not there. I'm very frustrated and mad that this happened.
  • My itunes says it hasn't updated een though I updated it? I went to update my iphone and it said I had to update my itunes first and restart my computer (i have a macbook.) So I did all that and went to try and update my phone again and it still said I had to update my itunes first so I did it again and it is still not allowing me to update my iphone. It still says I need the latest version of itunes. What am I do wrong!

I got the iOS 7 redesigned update for WhatsApp. After the update I found absolutely no difference in the UI. Although pictures of the update on other websites suggested a iOS7-ish redesign.
