No. But there are ways to make it work on Egyptian carriers.
One way is to buy the iPhone from Verizon, their iPhone comes factory unlocked which means they will work on CDMA and GSM carries (which include Egyptian carriers).
Another way is to buy it from AT&T and go to El Serag Mall in Nasr City and get it unlocked. There are a few shops there that can unlock your phone, I called a shop called 'El 7adeedy' and they said they could do it for 700 L. E.
But there are a few other problems. For starters you need to know someone who is an American citizen and is living in the US who is willing to buy it for you. Also a 2-year contract is made between you and the carrier so you will pay an amount of money each month and if you terminate the contract you will pay a fine of $350 so it is close to the amount you will pay for the international version of the iPhone. So let's say you are going to buy the 16 GB version and terminate the contract because you are no longer in need of their service and so that you don't have to pay an amount of money each month, you will end up paying $549 ($199 for the iPhone and a $350 fine). If you have all of these problems sorted out then go ahead and buy Verizon's iPhone or get AT&T's iPhone and unlock it at El Serag Mall. Keep in mind that the iPhone 5 uses a nanosim so call Vodafone and check if they started making them, you could cut your microsim into a nanosim but it's better to buy it.
Sorry mate no there's no micro sim in egypt you can buy it from ever you are and active the international roaming and use in egypt but you have to pay for the overseas company you bought it from
