Can't get a 3G network on my iPhone 4S?

I just bought an iPhone 4S from
Someone complete with box and all accessories. The iPhone was previously on a Vodafone contract but when I put my Vodafone pay and go sim inside I can't make calls and have no 3G. The phone had been restored back to the factory settings and I set up the phone again with the old SIM card inside. Does anyone know what could be the problem?

The phone may well be blocked i would suggest you take the phone into the Vodafone store and ask them to look at the device for you.
I had the same problem before i picked up a used iphone and it worked well for about three days then stopped making calls and messaging, So popped into the store and was told that the phones previous owner had not payed the bill hence Vodafone blocked the phone.
The worst thing was though when a phone has been blocked there's noway at all to get it un-blocked so it became a bad experience and a new phone for me.

If you have been roaming recently then Vodafone may have turned off cellular data by default, once you've checked that cellular data is turned on in your settings. Contact customer service team and check if cellular data is turned on in your account.

  • Wi-Fi on iPhone keeps saying unable to join network (my network name)? How can I fix this! It's been like this for a week but it works on my laptop fine. I tried unplugging it for a few seconds, I tried resetting network settings, I tried turning my phone off then on again, and I know I'm typing it right. I even typed it in upper case AND lower case. Does anyone know how I can fix this?
  • What's the difference between off-network and on-network? I'm try to work out which is best for what I want out of the service. I want protection while on my iPhone 5 (both when connected via Wi-Fi and when roaming on 3/4G). Website with product details: http://www.umbrella.com/products/umbrella-security-features/
  • One laptop can connect to our home Wi-Fi network but no other devices can connect? We recently set up a wireless internet connection in our house. One laptop can connect to it (the one I'm currently on) but no other devices can connect to it. It says our "Network Security Key" is mismatched. I have tried typing in all the different codes on both the router and modem on both our second laptop and an iPhone 5. How can I fix this?
  • Looking for a way to evenly share network speed in a house network? So my problem is that I play games online, that need a good ping. Whenever anyone from any other computer goes to load a video on youtube in a high quality, it takes up all the speed, gives me more than 400 ping and just pretty much cuts everyone else out. Is there a way to share the network evenly between every user? Our download speed is about 6mb/s, so if we have 4 active users, i'd like it to share it like 1.5mb/s each.
