Can't use imessage on Iphone 3g?

I use to have an iphone 4 that was not activated i would send messages and photos to other iphones using Wi-Fi through my apple ID. Now I downgraded to the iphone 3g and it doens't let me send imessages at all. I would like to be able to use it like an ipod and not really have to activated it.Am i still able to use the imessage through Wi-Fi if so how can i fix this?

IMessaging isn't available on the iPhone 3GS and earlier. It's only available on the iPhone 4 & later. Sorry.

  • Why can't I use the iMessage feature on my iPhone 4S? My friend gave me their iPhone when she got a new phone, and I use the iPhone as an iPod. I have linked my Apple ID to use the iMessage and FaceTime, however, when I try to use it, it says "Waiting for activation… ". How do I activate it? It has worked before, yet I don't know why it is doing this now. Is there a solution? I already checked Apple Support but that hasn't really helped.
  • IPhone can't send iMessage to iPod touch user with iMessage? At random times, whenever I try to iMessage my friend who has just a iPod Touch, where you type in the message will say "Text Message" instead of "iMessage." is there a way to fix this so it will always send as a iMessage instead of Text?
  • IMessage won't send to another iPhone with iMessage? So my iMessage works to all my friends that have iMessage except one friend in particular. He has iMessage on his phone and can iMessage all his friends but he can't iMessage me. We both have iMessage turned on on our phones but they simply will not iMessage each other.
  • If I cancel my iphone can I still use imessage on Wi-Fi? So, if I cancel my cellphone service, then I lose my phone number and isn't the imessages sent according to phone number? How would I be able to send them?
