Why can't I use the iMessage feature on my iPhone 4S?

My friend gave me their iPhone when she got a new phone, and I use the iPhone as an iPod. I have linked my Apple ID to use the iMessage and FaceTime, however, when I try to use it, it says "Waiting for activation… ". How do I activate it? It has worked before, yet I don't know why it is doing this now. Is there a solution? I already checked Apple Support but that hasn't really helped.

Time. Just wait for it to activate. It takes a few minutes or longer.

You have to enable it, go to your settings screen and scroll down to messages, click on it and it should say iMessage on or off. Slide it to on.

To activate iMessage, the iPhone sends a text message to the Apple servers in the UK. If you have no credit or have international sms barred it won't activate.
Additionally you need an active data connection, either Wi-Fi or mobile data. If neither of these are on, it won't work.

Turn your phone off, then back on.imessages and facetime should be enabled, if not, then you should be able to enable.

I have this feature on my phone, where it joins wi-fi networks automatically, but sometimes, it work and I end up having to manually select a network. (Another problem I have is that some networks that I have to manually select have security passwords)

  • There's no Select multiple feature on my instagram, why? I logged in on my android phone, and the feature is available, but on my Iphone 6 isn't. If I switch to my other account on my Iphone, the feature works. How is this possible?
  • Is tbere any major différence between thé iPhone 6 and the 6s? Whooppeee is Xmas again and my daughter wants new 2nd hand) iPhone… 2 years ago almost bought her 5 before i réaliséd that it was 5s she wanted ( cos thé 5 sucks?) And I don't want to screw up this year…
