Absolutely not.
The water resistance rating is for fresh water only, not salt water which is highly corrosive to all electronics. Also, when salt water evaporates, salt crystals form and they have a tendency to push moisture seals apart, destroying the water resistance of the product.
The iPhone X is also not intended to be used as an underwater camera.
Why risk a $1000 phone when you can spend far less on a far better camera specifically designed for use below water, including undersea use?
I took a great photo of an octopus on a Ricoh WG-4, five metres down in the Mediterranean Sea. No iPhone could do even half that depth in seawater without an expensive underwater housing. But my camera cost me just $250 and is now about four years old and has taken thousands of undersea photos. (I wanted to post the photo here, but even if I resize it, Y! A isn't allowing me to do so).
If the iPhone is in some sort of waterproof housing/case/bag, sure. Auto-focus may be problematic if the bag version is attempted.
