Can you use an iphone in Europe?
I'm buying an iphone 5s for my cousin in Europe and I'm just wondering if there's a way he would be able to use it? Do I just have to buy it from t-mobile or AT&T because they have the SIM cards? I don't want to buy something that he can't use.
Only GSM iPhones sold by AT&T, T-Mobile and Apple in the USA use the mobile phone technology found in Europe and many countries around the globe. Verizon's CDMA iPhone 5 and 4S add GSM capability so they will also work in Europe. (Verizon's older CDMA version of the iPhone 4 will not work in Europe or anywhere else that uses the GSM mobile system.) All GSM mobile phones around the world, including the AT&T iPhone, use a SIM card that CDMA cell phones do not have.
T-Mobile (the one you are thinking of) & AT&T don't operate in Europe. You'd have to buy an unlocked GSM model, which only Apple Stores sell.
- In USA and Europe, you can let your bike on the street and nobody are going to steal it? I heard that USA and Europe are so secure that you don't have to worry about being stealed. Also, if you forget your iPhone on the bus, it is surely there when you return. Is this true?
- How to use my iPhone in Europe? Once I land in Europe, what settings on my iPhone need to be activated in order for me to use it without being charged roaming charges?
- How much does it cost to use an unlocked iphone in Europe? I'm thinking of going abroad and I'm confused… If I unlock my iphone, does it cost anything more to use the phone other than what I've been paying each month already? So will I be able to text/call people in the US like normal without additional charges?
- How I can unlock my Iphone 3gs from At&t and use it in Europe on T-mobile? I bought my I phone locked on At&t and I want to use it in Europe on T-mobile network. How I can do that. Do I need to call At&t or there's another way?
