Cancel new AT&T contract to get iPhone 5 for cheap?
Okay I have h2o wireless, which runs off att network, and they both use a sim card. And i bought an att iphone 4 and i didn't have to unlock it for me to use my h2o sim card. Now would it work if a bought the iPhone 5 with a contract with AT&T then just not pay the AT&T bill at all do I'm able to use my h2o wireless sim card. And because it uses a sim card it's not a gsm so it could just work with my h2o sim no problem. Now what's the downfall of this plan. Couldn't I just pay the fee that the cell phone companies have when you cancel a contract so I could just keep the phone but still get the iPhone at a good price. Just let me know if there's anything that could backfire with this.
Don't you think they've thought of that
Ps you need credit to get the phone I'm assuming your credit will plummet so far that you want be able to buy anything big again
If you are going to sign a contract to get a free phone, then cancel the service, you are doing a lot of damage to your economic credibility. For instance, if you do this, AT&T may not ever give you service again. So, when the iPhone 6 comes out (let's say), you won't even be able to get the service to use it with. What's more is that the ETF (Early Termination Fee) would be at least as expensive as just buying that phone without a plan. Best to either get the service and keep it, or just buy the phone by itself and activate it with your current service.
Service providers are going to do what's in their best interest, not yours. Rarely will you ever be able to break a contract without some penalty or harm. It's just the nature of the business these days, especially with so much competition. I was actually able to get a free iPhone 5 through a special promo deal that was going on where I get to use it and evaluate the features from a consumer standpoint and then get to keep it. I just have to pay for the service through my provider. I don't know if the promo is still going on, but I got it at: http://topstoxx.com/products/iPhone5_Promotion_Offer.php
Give it shot, they may be still doing it. Anyway, hope this helps!
- Will I be able to keep my iPhone when I cancel sprint contract? In June 2014 will be 1 year so far that I've been on the contract and to cancel it would be $240 but will I be able to keep my iPhone 5? I'm looking to switch to boost mobile instead.
- What happens if you cancel a 3 year IPhone contract and sell the phone? Like just stop paying the bill, because its like $200+ every month. Then cell the Iphone. What can they do? Also, the phone isn't in my name. It's in my ex boyfriends.
- US Army: Should I cancel my AT&T iPhone 4 contract? I'm leaving next week to report to my first duty station in Korea. I have a US iPhone 4 from AT&T. I'm on the 2 year contract. Will my iPhone work in Korea if I have an International Plan? Or Should I just cancel my 2 year contract and buy a cell phone in Korea? For anyone who's been to Korea
- If I cancel my Sprint contract? I know that if I cancel my sprint contract i have to pay a 350 ETF. However, when I was typing to the agent, he wouldn't tell me if the iPhone 4s will be unlocked after the contract is terminated. Can anyone tell me if my iPhone will be unlocked?
