Changing iPhone 4s from American Sprint to UK T-Mobile, can it be done legally?
I want to buy an iPhone 4s from ebay. Its currently BAD ESN on Sprint, can I use it on a T-Mobile phone contract. I'm currently on a contract with T-Mobile, but I wanted a new phone, will I be able to use the new iPhone without changing carriers? Something to do with CDMA or GSIM or something along those lines?

You will not be able to use it tmobile uses a sim card as where sprint does not
I don't know about the bad ESN problem, but you will face another problem - even though the Sprint iPhone 4s has GSM, that GSM only works on non-Sprint networks if you get the phone unlocked first. But with a bad ESN, Sprint won't unlock it, so you would have to try some other way of unlocking.
Additionally, although this phone has GSM, the GSM in Sprint and Verizon global phones only works outside of the USA - but you are talking about UK T-Mobile so that's probably OK.

- Uk Mobile Vodafone with an American Pay as you go sim? I will be going on holiday to america in 5 days for 3 weeks. I currently have a Vodafone Iphone 5 and I want to take it with me but I'm a little scared about the bills I may rack up on the internet whilst using. I was wondering if I take my contract sim out in the UK and then buy a Vodafone pay as you go sim in america and top it up so that I'm able to use the internet. Would this work?

I don't know what the new law means, does it mean if phones are purchased before 01/26/13 can still be unlocked legally or it means all phones (including phones purchased before) can't be unlocked legally after 01/26/13?
