Charging The iPhone4 For The First Time?

I got an iPhone 4 yesterday and when it powered on for the first time, the charge was at 100%. Today it is down to 50% and I still haven't charged it for the first time. I know that these phones have lithium batteries and it has no charge memory, but what about for the first charge? Should I drain the battery all the way down for the first time charge, or can I charge it whenever I want?
Any answers will be appreciated.

No don't listen to him. The first time you need to drain your battery. It makes your battery last a lot longer if you drain it

When you get an iPhone the battery is brand new so you have to break it in just like when you get new headphones you have to listen to them a lot to get them to sound better.

If I were you, I'd get it down to 20% or below before charging. When you charge it up again, it is called a full cycle charge and it will be able to last the longest possible before dying. You should do this every month to increase battery life. If your battery is subject to heat and it won't work anymore, repeat the full cycle charge twice in a row and the battery will be revived.
