Cheaper to get iPhone fixed at the apple store or sending it in?

My iPhone 4 is broken and it is a hardware issue. I called apple support and they told me to go to an apple store to get it fixed, but the closest apple store is a 4 hour drive from me. They also suggested sending my phone in to them, but it will take 5-7 days. Is there a price difference between getting it fixed at the apple store or by sending it in?

The price is probably the same. They won't "fix" the phone at the Apple store anyway, they will send it out.

What the Apple store will offer you is a refurbished iPhone 4, which will either be free or have a cost depending on the warranty status. If you got it wet or broke the screen those won't be covered by warranty. Your only option will be to purchase a refurbished one, or upgrade to an iPhone4S, which will cost more.
