Collectors, debt, bad credit. Crooked ex husband. What to do?
My ex husband used my social security number to buy tons of stuff when I filed for divorce, then he got caught for something else he did, got in jail and then deported but he left me in big debt, now I'm re married and a stay at home mom, it is very hard for me to pay everything.
One of them is $770 to a major credit card, they are sending me an offer to pay just $109 to settle it. Which I intend to do, but how do I make sure that they actually report that I payed them? Because I've payed others and after three years my credit report shows like I haven't paid.
Also from AT&T, apparently he bought 3 iphones, and I'm the one being billed for almost $1, 030, I can't prove that it wasn't me, they have a receipt with my signature (faked by him).
My credit is damaged big time and I don't know how to fix this, if I don't work anymore, I shouldn't make my current husband pay for it.So, how do I get the other collectors to lower the amount like the first one I mention in order to finally pay? And how do I make sure that they report the payment?
It's been almost six years, and this thing is still following me. Its horrible!
Negative items only stay on credit reports for 7 years. If this occurred 6 years ago then it will come off by itself next year.
By settling these debts you are taking ownership to the debts and admitting that they are yours. It can be extremely hard to file ID theft charges in cases like this. If you filed police reports the creditors might come back and claim that you agreed to let your spouse use your cards.
Settling a six year old credit card charge off will not fix/repair your credit. You might just want to do nothing and let these items fall off by themselves next year.
He did not leave you in debt you failed to have fraud removed from credit reports and under your debt. Fraud is easy you report to the police/DA and follow through Paying old debts does nothing to help credit it still is reported for a full 7 years after last activity
If it has been six years, then you do nothing. After 7 to 7 1/2 years, things are automatically removed from your credit report, if you do nothing.
Paying won't get them removed faster, and might make it take longer.
Whatever you do, do not let them lower the amount. If they lower the amount and then you pay it, and they do put on your credit report that you paid it, then your credit report will say that you paid a lowered amount, which is even worse than not paying anything. If you can't pay the full amount, then try not to pay anything until after it gets removed from your credit report.
- IPhone SE with bad credit? Okay so my bday is Tuesday and i want the iPhone SE// but the thing is everywhere i look there isn't cricket wireless and my mom might be making excuses to not get me it. So, is there any stores that don't need credit?
- If I have bad credit, how much would it cost to get an iphone 5 from sprint? So I have bad credit, and I want to but an iphone 5 from sprint. Would it cost any extra to get the iPhone 5 with a contract on sprint? Would I have to pay a deposit? If so, how much would that cost?
- I was scammed by people to use my credit to get iphones and now I'm in debt? These people told us that if our credit was good and they helped us sign up for two year contacts and they said they'd pay for the phones and give us $50 per phone. They said we could just not pay the bills and it would be fine but now I'm getting the bills. Is this going to f up my credit? Should I just pay them off in full? I already canceled the service and reported them stolen.
- How come my teeth look crooked in photos but look straight in the mirror? I know the mirror is the opposite reflection of yourself but they look good in the mirror very straight teeth… But when i take a picture they look all messed up, there's no fu*** way that my teeth could be have a drastic change like they do from the mirror to the photos… With pictures i'm taking them with my iPhone 4.
