Computer is not recognizing iPhone?
I have an iPhone 4S that I have had for almost 2 years. It is 32 GB and has 25 GB used right now. Whenever I plug in my phone to the computer using the USB cable that came with my phone, the AutoPlay box does not open, preventing me from uploading my pictures. Then I go to Start > Computer, looking for my iPhone, and it still does not show up. However, iTunes always opens when I plug in my phone so I know that there's not a problem with my cord, and my phone charges at the same time. I have tried other cords, both USB ports on my computer, restarting my computer, and keeping my phone locked and unlocked. Please tell me if there's another way to import photos since that seems to be the only thing that is not working when my phone is plugged in.
I found that when I had NO photos in the CAMERA ROLL on the iPhone Photo's app. When I connected my iPhone to my computer with the USB cable, it would not appear in My Computer/Windows Explorer. However, when I had any pictures in the Camera Roll, and I then reconnected the iPhone, it would then appear in My Computer/Windows Explorer.
When Camera Roll is empty, Windows does not detect a storage device, only a mobile device.
Driver glitch maybe?
Keeping at least one photo in Camera Roll at all times works around nicely.
Another way to import photos is email them from your iphone to your email… Then download them to your computer.
Turn on your iphone and login your passcode on your phone first… Then plug it in a USB port… See if it shows up in My Computer after that.

Go to Device Manager (located in Control Panel) > Portable Devices find "Apple iPhone" and update the driver, by right clicking it and clicking "Update Driver Software… "
If that doesn't work then go to "Universal Serial Bus controllers" (also located in Device Manager) right click on "Apple Mobile Device USB Driver" and update it.
Note: In "Universal Serial Bus controllers" if any of the icons such as "USB Mass Storage Device" has an arrow pointing downwards, it means that the driver is out-of-date, which could also be the problem, update by right clicking it and selecting "Update Driver Software… "
