Computer Nerds and Love. Advice?
For some reason I tend to click with a lot of programmers and… Just computer oriented people (the other end of my love-interest spectrum is creative artist types… And that can sometimes go hand in hand with the techies. My other other end of the spectrum, if we can just have a backup here, tends to be language/lit and travel oriented people). I'm also intelligent, and curious about the world and philosophies, so perhaps that's where we connect, not sure.
Anyway, my issue (especially an issue when I click with techies) - I know NOTHING about technology. I mean it's rather embarrassing. If you could travel back in time, kidnap someone from, say, the 1960's or 70's, and transplant them smack in the middle of the present-day… That would be me. Ok I may be a wee bit more advanced. But really, I don't know squat. I didn't even really have a computer until I was 18 and going to college (just in my early thirties now, so calculate… My peers had them way before I did), then I just pretty much used it to write papers in college. And I was a hippie. SO… More time with nature. And I had a disc-man until maybe 8 or 9 years ago, when I got the first generation ipod. And I still don't really use it. I still don't even know if I have an itunes account, I'm sick of losing music- which is probably why I don't listen anymore. Blue ray? What? I still haven't played with that thing that makes you stop and rewind and tape tv, much less blue ray! HD tv? I thought mine WAS HDtv! Hey I'm just glad I can connect my laptop to my TV, that's my fancy shmancy technique. What's this I hear about apps connecting to tv now? Nuts! Don't even get me started on video games or wii. I had a semi-smart phone (it got online but… You wouldn't want it to) until 2013 when I finally got a real smart phone. It is blowing my mind. Blowing.my.mind. I still don't get how to navigate the navigator. I think this comp programmer I was dating actually broke up with me because he got frustrated that I couldn't work his iphone's maps and navigator when we were driving. He literally got off the freeway and took the phone himeself in anger because I couldn't use it, or would keep getting out of the app or something (ok, it was a few years ago and the first time i had ever held an Ipod too… Plus he worked at apple). But i was embarrassed… And pretty sure he broke it off thinking he couldn't handle it. I'm not an idiot, but I just haven't had a lot of experience… Plus no family other than much older parents, and my friends take it for granted that everyone knows everything. They can't fathom that someone might not be able to grasp the very concepts of certain technologies.
SO looking for advice… I'm rather embarrassed now when I do date comp nerds, I feel rather inadequate. Which I recognize is silly, because it's merely ignorance about certain subject matters. But the fact is, I'm going out with experts and professionals of those very subjects, so I'm going to show this ditzy side very quickly. I don't mind if guys don't know basics in my, but would find it hard to build if we couldn't speak the same language, or at least tried to. Hey nerds, what do you think about dating partners who would not know very basics in technology? Would it bother you? Honestly? How would you think i should approach the topic with these guys? Would it hinder you to the point of breaking it off, like the guy i explained from before from a few years ago? Or maybe people usually have more patience than that. Some of these subjects I understand I should just take classes in, but some things are so ingrained and basic in every day life now… There ARE no classes. Just physical experience in dealing with these technologies.
Added (1). basically, what should I do? So as to not turn these cute nerds off with non-techieness of basic techs?
Not everyone is the same, I wouldn't worry about it. Or spend a little time on the computer, etc and you will learn, or ask them to teach you.
- Why do people love and hate Apple? If you love it, tell why, if you hate it tell why. I own Mac, iPhone, iPad Retina and Mini and it is great for my career as an app designer. I don't understand all of the Mac Hate, they make a great product
- WHY do Americans love Apple and Iphones so much? Statistics proved that Samsung and Android are much more popular than Iphones in most countries, especially in Europe and in China, it is only the Americans that love Iphones so much. http://news.naver.com/main/read.nhn?mode=LSD&mid=shm&sid1=105&oid=123&aid=0002009930 ***so the only reason is that it is from America and they own the same nationality?
- What classes should I take at Community College if I love hip hop/rap music and sports? Any1 have any class suggestions on what's I should take in community college if all I like is music, sports and iPhones and video games?
