Copyright Laws on Brand logo's UK?
I know you need a license to use peoples music, footage(Movies, Tv programs). But do you need license or permission to use brands in your video, say Smirnoff, Nestle, Adidas, Logitech, Redbull, Monster energy, Pepsi etc.
For use in stuff like tutorials, reviews, entertainment.
Perfect example
Throughout the video he is smoking Marlboro(lets say you can see the brand name), would that be ok or would I need permission?
And at the end of the film you also see the Marlboro logo? Would that be ok or would that need permission?
It seems really confusing because of all the fashion guru's and the amount of product names they have on display daily and people showing off there Iphone's and Blackberrys and people making cocktails with certain vodka brands etc
You do not need permission to show logos, as long as you are not trading off those logos. In other words, as long as you are not using the logos in order to imply that your product is linked to that company, there's no problem.
- Printing and selling iPhone cases - copyright issues? I'm looking in to setting up a small business involving printing iPhone cases. As a complete newbie to business and self-employment, does anyone know what copyright laws there would be attached to this? I would guess certain pictures / logos could not be used without the authorisation of whoever owns them. How could I find out whether something is copyrighted or free to use?
- Doctor Who iPhone app - what copyright laws apply here? So say I want to make a Doctor Who themed iPhone app. Say, a sonic screwdriver that makes cool noises. Would there be any laws against this?
