Could I buy an iPhone in America and bring it back to the UK?
In may 2013 I'm travelling to Florida and was wondering what to buy over there. So I researched it and someone said apple products. My mum really would love an iPhone so I looked into it for her. If we bought it in England it would cost us £529. But on the us site it's only $199, and when you convert that to pounds it's a whole lot cheaper than £529! But if you were to buy it online on the us site then you have to pick what network provider you want. (E.g.AT&T) So would this apply if I bought this in store in Florida? By the way I would buy it in paper dollars to avoid the bank charges from converting it. Would my plan work?

I worked for AT&T. Yes you can buy an iphone no problem except: you need it with a 2 year contract.otherwise the iphone is around 500-700$ i'm not exactly sure. To cancel the contract is another 300$ and then you will need to find someone to unlock the iphone whether its legal or not. My boss at AT&T never allowed us to unlock iphones or any phones because it meant that they are taking the phones to europe and such, and to my boss it meant losing money. So first make sure you have someone either in florida or UK to unlock it for you. If not, my mom bought an original iphone off a Chinese website for 150$ with no contract, no anything. But i can't remember the name at the moment.
You can but all American phones are linked to an American network so you have to pay for it to be unlocked, if not it won't work at all in the UK but some shops won't let you.
The big thing with the iphone 5 is its 4G capability.
Unfortunately, the 4G network in the US uses a different radio freqency from the one which will be used in the UK. This means that American iphone 5s won't work on the UK network when that comes online, so importing one from the US is a bit pointless.
The UK is getting its first 4G network around Christmas time - EE (the Orange/T Mobile group) is getting it first. So it'll already be up and running by the time of your visit to the US next May.

If I order it from America what would I need to do and what should I know before ordering an Iphone from America and using it in another country?
