Could I get arrested for this?
I was given a iPhone 4S and I want to know if I could be arrested for jailbreaking it and then unlocking it.
Also I'm in canada and the 2 year contract is done and my gramps gave me it

Jailbreaking in itsself is not illegal. Unlocking it so you can switch carriers is illegal i'm pretty sure, and downloading pirated apps is illegal. As long as you don't take your phone to an apple store while its jailbroken and unlocked though you should be fine. If you need to take it in for anything factory reset it first so it removes the jailbreak and unlock but other than that you can easily get away with jailbreaking and unlocking no consequences.
Actually, I'm pretty sure Canada recently passed a law protecting consumers rights to unlock phones.
It is in the US where it is now illegal in some cases to unlock a phone, though it seems unlikely anyone is going to try to enforce it.
So no, no one is going to arrest you for unlocking a phone you legally own in Canada.
