Could my husband have damaged my baby's eyesight?
I caught him showing cartoons to my 3 month old baby on his iphone, but he had his iphone so close to her face that her eyes went crosseyed while looking at it. They went back to regular after i made him take his phone away but i'm worried it already did damage.god my husband can be so stupid sometimes, there was even a second where he put the phone literallt right at her face playing around
I mean, I don't think it did, but explain to him that you shouldn't put the iphone that close to a baby's face, their eyes are sensitive to it, it's okay for him to look at normal distance.
Your baby will be fine.
And don't be such a ***. You are going to make parenting mistakes too, I hope your husband isn't cruel enough to rub them in your face and publicly call you an idiot when they happen.
No, your baby will be fine.
However, it's very unhealthy for your marriage and disrespectful to your husband to call him names. You will also make mistakes in raising your children. Cut the guy some slack.
I dangled shiny things like jewelry in front of my niece when she was 6 months old to teach her how to sit up and reach for things, and the 'shinies' never screwed up her eyesight. Did I mention she used to sit on the couch with me at age 4 months, and stare straight at a huge tv screen for 2 hours while we watched Harry Potter?
Your daughter is ok. Give your husband his phone back and cut him some slack.
You should be lucky. Most dads don't play with their babies. (Ok, they do, but a majority of dads also leave their children, so you know?)
Everyone else who is answering referring to letting their babies watch t.v. And all, your comments are totally irrelevant because you probably didn't allow your children to be right up on the screen to the point they were cross eyed.
Your husband made a mistake doing this and it shouldn't happen again.
Of course not. Your baby probably puts her own hands that close to her face and looks at them thirty times a day.
No. It's normal for all babies eyes to go crosseyed when they look at things up close. If you hold a toy in front of her face youll see the same effect. It's not harmful.
Of course that didn't damage her eyesight. HOW would that even happen?
When we look at something, no matter if it's a screen or an object, really close to our face, our eyes have to cross to focus. That's how eyes are designed to work. If you put your finger right in front of your nose and look at it with your eyes crossed, that damages your eyesight exactly as much as your daughter's eyesight was damaged: not one bit.
And ease up on your husband a little. HE can be so stupid? HE has more reason to complain about YOU freaking out over absolutely nothing. If he was able to hide how much your reaction annoyed him, the man is a saint.
Yeah it's stupid but not showing your baby TV has more to do with brain velopment not vision.
Just don't make a habit of it.
In this day and age it's very hard to shield baby completely from iphone iPad and TV. But try!
I agree with LoveMy's post, you seem to be a "know it all" so don't bother asking questions.
- Will my baby kitten be ok after I dropped my iPhone on it's head? I was holding my phone and my baby kitten was sleeping next to me and the phone accidentally fell on his head. I wasn't so sure if it completely hit him but I'm pretty worried because he's just sleeping and i don't know what to do! The kitten is 3 weeks old btw!
- What song is playing in the iphone 6 commercial Baby, Baby, Baby, I'm coming Home? The commercial is shot from above with the bird flying over the waves/surf breaking on the beach? The only lyrics heard are "Baby, Baby, Baby, I'm coming Home…"
- How to make my eyesight more stronger? I've been on my apple iphone a lot even on low brightness but it seems to have ruined my vision when it comes to looking at letters and patterns far away so I have to kind of squint to see clearly I'm cutting my time off it is there anything else I can do
- How to correct my eyesight without glasses? I have an iPhone 5s and recently I've noticed I've been on it quite a lot and my friend told me IIm developing a squint or a lazy eye when I was a little baby I also had a lazy eye and my vision has become terrible because wen I look at letters it becomes 3D more like and I don't want glasses do I stay off my phone?
