Difference Between USB 2.0 and 3.0 Port?
Hi, I'm looking for a new laptop (Black Friday shopping), and I'm looking at a Toshiba. (C55-A5285/049562).It has three USB 2.0 ports and one USB 3.0 port. I'm a little bit confused but from what I've read they're not different sizes, 3.0 is just faster and better? Do I have this right? All I'd really be looking at connecting are some USB drives (memory sticks, etc.) and my cable for my iPhone.
Thanks so much for your help, and happy Thanksgiving!
USB 3.0 is faster than 2.0. Just like 2.0 is faster than the 1.0 you would find on really old computers. There's not difference in size and usb flash drives and such that you use right now will still work in the 3.0 port. The only thing is that to take advantage of the USB 3.0 port you will also need a usb 3.0 compatible jump drive, etc. This means that your ipod cable will not run at the 3.0 rate but at the 2.0 rate being that apple doesn't support it on there devices yet (I don't think). In reality its a nice feature to have but from what you are telling me, you probably won't even realize a difference unless you are transferring very large files and you want a bit more speed
- Why port forwarding on port 80? I have a foscam home security camera and it needs port forwarding on port 80 if I want to use my iphone to view it from outside. Surely enough, it works as soon as I open that port. But isn't port 80 open by default? Else how could I view http websites in the first place. I don't get it. It's already open so why open it again?
