Do I get charged for iMessage?
Say I'm texting my cousin who right now is in Mexico, we both have iPhones and use iMessage. Will I get charged for texting her?
If you are using Wi-Fi then no you don't have to pay. But if you have limited data and not using Wi-Fi for iMessage.
If i'm not mistaken, imessage is over Wi-Fi so no as long as the bubble is blue you should be good. Think about there are applications that do the same thing and are free.
The only charge you will encounter is if you're using your data on your cellular plan. IMessage is not the same as a standard SMS message, so it doesn't go towards your text message count. It will only count towards your data, which would be basically the same thing as you using any of those texting apps.
I have an iPod and I use iMessage on that to send messages to my sister you has an iPhone, and it's free for me.
If you do so using a data connection yes, like everything else. If on Wi-Fi, no.
IMessage is essentially instant messaging (not to be mistaken with SMS or MMS). You can use iMessage over Wi-Fi, 3G and 4G free if charge. While using the iMessage service is free, your data (3G or 4G, depending on your contract and network) may not be. If you are abroad, you may also be charged, unless your iPhone is set up with international data.
