Do I have to have a plan to use an IPhone 5?

I recently bid on an iphone 5, and i was wondering do i need a plan to use it for like to buy apps and go on the internet? Or can i just use my regular Wi-Fi?

Regular Wi-Fi works great

You don't need a plan to use an iPhone, but you do if you wanna make calls, texts, and if you want mobile data. That being said, Wi-Fi works fine for browsing the internet, downloading apps, etc. There's also various apps you can use for calling and texting that use Wi-Fi, if needed.

The iPhone 5 works fine when not connected to a service. We disconnected my daughter's' iPhone 5 a month ago when we thought it died and switched to her old BlackBerry. When the iPhone came back - and for the week it took me to call Verizon and switch it back it worked. The problem is that depending on how much you paid you probably wasted your money. Without a cellular plan an iPhone is an over glorified iPod touch and that's much cheaper.

Regular Wi-Fi will work fine. For more flexibility, use Androids because there's less restrictions (although, I wonder if there's any point in even saying that to an iphone lover.)
