Do I have to live in the hood to be Mexican?

My school is mixed. Some of my Mexican friends tell me that I'm not "Mexican Mexican" because I don't live in "the hood" They also tell me that I'm not mexican mexican because I talk like a white person. I hate it. Its annoying how they always point that out. I talk spanish pretty well. You can't tell that I talk english when i speak it. Same with english. (its a gift.lol) Another one of my mexican friends called 2 of my white friends "stuck up."… Including me. Because we live in a good neighboorhood and we have more things than her. Even though she has an iphone 5c and a credit card. I just don't get it.

All one needs to be Mexican is Mexican citizenship. Your friends are embracing some kind of weird class caste system that isn't relevant to most people. You must still be in school because this is a very juvenile kind of mindset.
