Do I have to pay price difference on electronics posting from America to Ireland?
So my friend is living in America and is buying me an iPhone. The iPhone is 400 USD to buy in America but around 660 Euro to buy in Ireland. My question is that if he posts it from America to Ireland, will I have to pay the difference in price when it goes through customs?

Of course not. You are not buying anything. It is a gift. There may be customs duty though.
Nope, but be prepared to pay the customs tax…
- Will I have to pay Vat on iphone? (from united states to ireland)? I'm a student studying abroad from the United States in Ireland, and I ordered the iphone 5 because I had the upgrade with my phone company there. I got it to delivered to my moms house in california. Now I'm wondering if she ships it to me as a gift, will I still have to pay VAT on it when it arrives? I'm not trying to pay like 200 *** dollars in VAT.
- What happens if i don't pay import charges for an iphone from america on ebay? I'm getting a second-hand iphone from ebay… Some of them say "import charges included", do i have to buy one that says that and pay for import charges? Or can i get one without the import charges?
- Should I buy an Iphone 5s from America and use it outside of America? An Iphone s where I live costs around $600.In America it costs around $199 plus a $70 year contract so it seems more reasonable to order it online from America. If I order it from America what would I need to do and what should I know before ordering an Iphone from America and using it in another country? Besides unlocking the phone, what else do I need to do?
- Iphone bought in America, will it work in Ireland? My neighbour is going to New York next week. I would love to get an Iphone 5, but in Ireland they are far too expensive. If she got the iphone 5 in the apple store, would it work here with my pre pay sim? How much is the iphone 5?
