Do I listen to my music too loud?

I'm 14 years old and listen to music on my iPhone 4S with the basic apple earbuds (not the earpods but the older earbuds that came with the phone). I usually listen to music at around 40-75% volume on the phone, depending on the song and how loud my the environment I'm in is. If I'm in class and doing work etc I will have the volume lower, where as in hallways I will turn it up to around 50-80%. I will normally turn up the volume to drown out the noise around me (High school). I usually listen to music for about 1 hour a day with earbuds (just enough to get me through the school day). I'm just a little paranoid about damaging my hearing. Would the volume I listen to currently and the amount of time I listen be damaging my hearing in the your opinion(s)? And also what devices+earbuds do you use and how loud do you have them normally?

Any serious answers would be greatly appreciated thanks.

If it's no louder than a food blender or a motorcycle, then listening for 1 hour will not damage your ears. Any louder or longer, you would be risking it.

For your information, I listen to music using Polk Audio bookshelf speakers using my laptop as the source.

Hmm yes do not listen to very loud music for a long long time. Bad for your ears.

one of my hobbies is music so i use earphones frequently. But i switch to the speakers on my laptop after 1 hour.

so that the sound waves are not concentrated in my ear and that they spread apart. I just need to get the sound waves near me.

No you don't listen loud music becuse loud music damaz you rear

  • WHY IS MY MUSIC NOT PLAYING OUT LOUD ON MY IPHONE 5? FOR SOME REASON MY MUSIC WON'T PLAY OUT LOUD ALTHOUGH THE VOLUME IS UP, AND I CAN'T HEAR ANY SYSTEM SOUNDS E. G WHEN YOU LOCK IT OR TAP BUTTONS. CAN ANYONE Help, IT ALSO OFF SILENT AND I CAN PLAY MUSIC THROUGH THE HEAR PHONES. IT CAN'T BE THAT BECAUSE I CAN HERE SOUNDS SAY LIKE IF I WANT TO CHANGE MY ALARM TONE.
  • Why does my iPhone 5s play music out loud, even on silent? When the switch on the side of my phone is switched to silent (red bar showing), my phone will still play music, videos, or sounds from apps out loud unless I turn the volume all the way down using the volume buttons. I thought the silent switch was supposed to prevent any sounds.
  • What volume is too high to listen to music? On an iPhone which of the bars is too high? Or is half too high? I like to listen to it on 3 quarters, but I know it's very high.
  • What's a good free music downloader that I can listen to my music offline? Okay, I have looked EVERYWHERE for an app like this. I have a new iPhone and I can't find a simple app that lets me download music and then play it when I have no internet. All I need is an app where you can download songs or videos from YouTube or something on the Wi-Fi, but then when you're off Wi-Fi you can still listen to the music. All the apps I've tried don't work or I can't find them, please help
