Do I need to buy a more expensive router?

There are currently 5 people living in my house right now. Every single one of us uses at least 1 device whether it be a laptop, iPhone, or even streaming Netflix on our TV's. My question is do I need to buy a more expensive router in order for all of us to be able to use Wi-Fi at the same time with no problems? Because currently it is really hard to be able to stream Netflix or to watch YouTube on an iPhone without getting kicked off of our Wi-Fi which we currently have (keep in mind this router is pretty old and was fairly cheap). So I was just wondering if it would benefit us to buy a newer and more expensive router in order to keep up with all of us using the Wi-Fi at the same time.

Please somebody help because it is really annoying to be using something like watching YouTube or Netflix on my Xbox One and then all of a sudden getting disconnected from our Wi-Fi. I just want to know if it would be a good investment and would handle at least 5 people using the Wi-Fi at the same time.

Added (1). Would a router like this one work?

5 people is not that much… I want to know what your internet speed is… You might just need more speed

also… I would make sure all your gadgets and the router has the same security settings, as in wpa or wpa2… And tik or aes… You will get kicked off if not same

also make sure no one has a torrent app like utorrent or frosteire, running with files in them… Remove from app, so there not hogging the bandwidth

you could check the firmware in router, to see if ots up to date… If not update. Them

streaming pulls alot if data, and older routers don't do as good of a job splitting data streams up with different people using the router

I would buy a net gear, cysco, or Asus router with the new ac standard, a USB 3.0 port for a backup drive later, and both 2.4ghz and 5ghz bands… Also some new ones will let you allocate a certain amount of speed per each ip

check newegg.com and look at reviews

What is your download speed that you purchased from your ISP?
If you have no idea shut down all computers and go on one that is connected with wire and go to dslreports.com and check your download and upload speed. If you check it from Wi-Fi connected computer speed will always show slower than it really is.

Sounds like you're on the right track. And buying it at BB means you can try it out for 2 weeks to see if things improve or not. Also, don't be surprised if you also need to get a faster Internet plan/connection to support multiple, simultaneous streaming devices.

Yes, you should use the better one to connect Wi-Fi fastly. Wish this can help you:
