I would copy over any pictures/ data from the phone to keep from losing it in the event that they do a factory restoration. There's no need to do one unless instructed by them otherwise.
No if the company is sending it back to you then no you don't and no your private information is protected its in there policy, the only time would have to reset it if they are giving you a new phone
No, that would erase all of your data; contacts, emails, past texts, the lot. Assuming its just something like replacing the screen, they will just need to power it up and run a few checks through a PC. No need for a reset.
