Do you believe many American preteens are spoiled?

I'm also an American, and I have seen way too many 11 year old girls wearing clothes from the mall, sporting an Iphone 5 or new Ipod, bragging about their boyfriend, with handbags, loads of makeup, and manicures. It's really none of my business, yet it often catches my attention. I believe those items are for people mature enough to handle it, or better yet, when they have a job and can actually buy those items themselves. Are most, NOT ALL, 21st century preteens spoiled, or do I just have a screwed up opinion? I was a preteen only two years ago, and I didn't have any of those things, and I turned out fine. Preteen girls were the same as they were when I was one, since I was 12 only 2 years ago…

Yup, most think they are entitled and a lot of it is because they see their friends with all those devices and accessories. Parents don't seem to emphasize concentrating on your studies. They give them all this stuff and they end up getting distracted by it. My 3rd graders asked me when they were gonna get cell phones last week. I asked them how many of the kids with cell phones in class do you notice on the A/B and A honor roll? Yes, yes I know there are exceptions but I told them just concentrate on your studies, that will take you further in life than fitting in with the rest of the kids at this point in time.

Yes, they are spoiled. However, in term of the "technology era", they are the "born digital natives."

I think today parents have alot more money then they did when many of us grew up. Its important that parents at least raise their kids right, its find that they have iphone 5, nice clothes, etc, as long as they still teach them the value of money.
