Do you still need to pay bills for a stolen iPhone?

I called to have it disconnected because someone stole it but it was also stolen the day I got the phone and signed the contract. Do I still need to pay the monthly bill? It's with Verizon? I can't afford to get another phone because I used my money to buy this iPhone.

You shouldn't have to pay for the bill, your no longer in possession of the phone it was stolen.

Of course you do, your 2 year agreement has nothing to do with whether or not you take care of your phone. Get a new phone and finish the contract.

You will have to pay the contract until it is cancelled. They may cancel it early for you if you have a police crime number/report so you need to report your phone as stolen. And check if there was any insurance on it in the purchase. Or you may be able to claim on your house insurance. - if you're still with parents, then check on theirs.

It would be best to contact Verizon or search their website. They can give you information on suspending your service, buying a replacement at a discount, and perhaps even getting your stolen phone back. Go to MyMobileRecovery.com for info on that last option.

At any rate, they're not going to let you out of your contract, so you should either get some kind of phone, even a cheapi temporary one, or suspend your service.

I imagine verizon still expects you to continue to pay your monthly bills or terminate your two year term early. Yes it may not be your fault that the phone got stolen but think of it this way, it's not your phone carriers fault that it was stolen either. Unfortunate situation but its life. Good luck.

And to the person that said you're in contract so Verizon has to give you a new one, sorry but it doesn't work like that. I have no clue where you got that idea from lol. I used to sell phones and it would shock me that customers expect us to give them their money back after they lose their phone. If it worked like that then everybody would tell us they've lost their phones just to get a replacement for free.
