Does 3g have anything to do with signal reception quality?
There's an option to disable cellular data however if this is done should I also disable 3g network?
If i disable 3g as well will the signal quality degrade?
Also I want to extend my iphone 3gs' battery for 2 days with moderate use… Is it really possible? I'm not into jailbreaking though.
Nah, turning off cellular data will not affect signal strength. Your phone is still connecting to the same cellular tower.
Turning off 3G cellular data will improve battery life since 3G cellular chips consume more power. Of course, your phone will be connecting via 2G/EDGE, so the data speed will be slower and you won't be able to talk and surf at the same time.
To increase battery life, turn off cellular data completely. Turn on Wi-Fi for Internet connectivity only when you really need it. I'm not sure if this will extend the battery on your iPhone 3GS to two days.
