Does a system restore completely get rid of the sweetpacks virus? - 1

I had it and It stopped everything running in that modem from working iphones, gaming devices etc. Well long story short, I did a system restore and everything is working again but my concern is, is it possible the virus is still on the computer? Any help is appreciated as I'm not very tech savvy. Lol

System Restore does 'what it says on the tin' it restores the system back to a pre-set date from an update, or one that you set yourself, as long as it was before when you get this 'sweetpacks' virus, then it'll be gone permanently, unless you manage to get it again somehow. Just keep creating system restore points, get 'MBAM' and some other free anti-virus or buy a subscription for one. I'll link to where you can get MBAM (Malwarebytes Anti Malware)

You need not worry as the system files that gave you the problem, here the virus, has been removed from the restore points along with all the downloads and folders except your ordinary files, if the system restore has not been attempted. So, the program itself may not be getting deleted.
But do completely get rid of virus, you must scan your computer with Avast (updated), free or by your updated anti virus program at the safemode, (by pressing when powering and choosing safe mode) by a reputed free antivirus is the best solution. You could download malware bytes, a free one, and do the full scan,
First scan with quick scan, and then full scan with malware bytes.

Its not virus, its a pup.

What you should have done & still can, run (free):

Once you've run them, download the free version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, to try and ensure that nothing has been left behind. Install it and get updates, then run a full scan:

Hope this helps.
