No. It has to be at least turned on, even if it is on vibration only.

Don't depend on iPhone or any phone alarm if you need to go to school or work. Get a clock as a backup alarm. The electronic items can malfunction then you will be in big trouble.

Nope so if your wanting to use the alarm your iphone must be switched on as when the phone is turned off it is inactive, hope this helped.

if the phone is in sleep mode (e.g. When you press the home button the display lights up) then the alarm will sound regardless of weather the phones is on silent or not
