Does apple have a second generation of iphone?

I have read in wikipedia that apple doesn't have a second generation of iphone. So i want to make it clear whether it is true or not.

Yes, Apple had a 2nd generation iphone. It was iphone 3G. First iphone comes, which was also labelled as iphone 2G (as it did not support 3G networks yet). Then the Apple launched the next iphone, knows as iphone 3G. Here many people think the "3G" in iphone 3G means 3rd generation.No. "3G" in iphone 3G means it supported 3G networks. Iphone 3G was the 2nd generation iphone. Iphone 3Gs was the third generation iphone. Iphone 4 is 4th generation. Iphone 4s is 5th generation iphone. Iphone 5 is 6th generation. Iphone 5s will be 7th generation iphone, and that's the reason apple called the new OS as iOS 7, as it will come with the 7th iphone, the iphone 5s. Hope you are clear of the confusion.

I think you must've read wrong. There definitely is a 2nd generation of the iPhone as well as a 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th & in a couple of weeks a 7th.

I love Apple products (My last main computer was a MacBook, and I use an iPhone), but I actually liked their last generation iMac computer better than the one that was just announced. Each time Apple announces a new product, I've got to think that there are shelves of unsold previous-generation products still to be bought.
