Does apple protection plan cover water/spill damge?

My sister s MBPr suffered an iced tea spill on the keyboard, and a bit on the screen (may have gotten into the vents beneath the screen, i don't know). The plan in question is: http://www.apple.com/...acbook-pro

I've seen posts on the apple forums and videos saying it does NOT cover water damage, but looking to see whatever she can do to avoid having to send it in for a complete logic board replacement for $700+.

Screen is black from startup, when shining a flashlight/iphone light at the screen you can see the display is still on (barley) and the system is working. The screen brightness button, either all the way bright or dim, doesn't change the intensity on the display (because you can tell when shining a light on the screen)

Don't think so. Pretty sure Applecare only covers accidental on iPads/iPhones.

No, it only covers manufacturer defects. Accidental damage is not covered.

Standard warranty and optional Applecare, specifically EXCLUDES accidental damage, and especially water damage. They have installed sensors that may even trigger from condensation going from cold outside or inside air conditioned to a warm and humid where water condenses inside and voids all warranty.
A major issue of Apple MacBooks is in their especially sensitive to liquid damage because of the unibody design, and anything that gets on the keyboard ends up in the laptop, and repair of Macbooks is expensive.

I prefer cheap Windows laptops for everyday use as quite adequate and even if ruined, can recover the hard drive and just replace it.

Applecare+ at much higher price may add in the accidents.
Regular Applecare USA:
http://www.apple.com/...cnaen.html
4. What is not Covered?
(ii) Damage caused by…(b) accident, abuse, misuse, liquid contact, fire, earthquake or other external cause

AppleCare+ is at most for iPAD, and not Macbook

Squaretrade is where you buy a warranty, if considering it on a future new purchase
http://www.squaretrade.com/laptop-warranty
At $229 3-year $75 deductible for $1000-$1500 laptops covers everything.

You probably do better at a local repair shop, and consider the current value of the laptop and may not pay to repair it at all.

No. You're supposed to be smarter than that.

NO, unless you have the apple care+

  • What to do if you spill milk on your iPhone 4? I spilled milk on my iPhone. Now it's speakers are acting weird. At first it wouldn't let me adjust it's volume. Then I locked it and it let me adjust. But now the volume is very low. I'm very worried.
  • What is the iphone warranty protection plan (a2)? Why do I have it? I bought my iphone off of amazon used and I went into apple to get my sleep button replaced for free but on the receipt it says I have protection plan a2? But when I checked the website for my warranty status with my original iphone serial number it says my "serial number has been replaced." I'm using a lender right now until they fix my phone…
  • What is radioshacks electronic protection plan? Okay I have a 3year RadioShack electronic protection plan. Does that mean it my item stops working, I can take it back and they will give me a new one? Because I have an iPhone 5 charger that I purchased from them on 6/3/13 and it has stopped working properly. Would I be able to take it to the store and get a new one for it?
  • What happens if you spill a little bit of soda on your iphone? So yesterday, I spilled a little bit of soda on the die of my iphone, but it wasn't really that bad to me. Just a little big on the side, but I don't think anything got into the internal. And now I feel like its running kind of slow, or am I just paranoid?
