No and No.

You must back the phone up yourself via itunes, then if you get a blank one back you can restore your backup to that, making it like your old one.

NO, basic AppleCare does not take care of ANY sort of physical damage. AppleCare Plus on the other hand does, and you PAY for AppleCare Plus.
