Does restoring an unlocked iPhone with a backup re-unlock it?

So I'm thinking about trying to update my iPhone 4's iOS. I've checked the IMEI number with several websites, and they all say it's sim unlocked, but I'm worried that it isn't, and so if I make a back up of my current iOS and then try updating it, could I restore it with the backup to the previous iOS and it be unlocked again? (This is all if it gets re-locked from the iOS update.)

If its jailbroken unlock… The itunes restoral will un jailbreak it and re-lock it… Thus making it act like you just got it at the carrier store

if its Apple unlocked or Carrier unlocked (by ATT for example), itunes restoral will keep it unlocked, since the unlocked was programmed into the phone by an administrator and not done by a prgram hack. LOL

  • Why does restoring my iphone from a backup use up so many gigabytes? I have an iphone 5 and I'm trying to restore my phone from last backup. Unfortunately, the back up is cancelled about 30 minutes in because my hard disk runs out of space. I have 10 gigs left so there should be any problem with that. I went to mobilesync folder and then to the backup folder and there's one folder there. Once you click on that folder there are thousands of files in that folder that have several modified dates on them. Basically can I just delete the old dated files?

  • Restoring iPhone from backup? I got a new iPhone yesterday and there has been some confusion and I lost everything. I backed up my old iPhone in July and I was wondering if I can plugged my new phone to get that backup. I'm just scared because once you plug your phone in it backs up that phone. & I've been using my new iphone and it already has like apps and stuff on it. How can I get the back up data onto my new phone? Does it give me the option when I plug my phone in?
