Does using FB/Twitter on Wi-Fi use data (iphone5)?

So I recently got an iPhone 5 and have the 2g data plan, and I was wondering if I use Wi-Fi while using Safari, Facebook, and Twitter will it use my data?
Also - if I play games (I only really play Temple Run) so if I play temple run while I'm using Wi-Fi does that count towards data or will it use Wi-Fi?
ALSO: Near the top of the screen, my phone says Verizon, my cell bars, and then it differs between the curved lines and 3g. The curved lines indicate that I'm using Wi-Fi, correct?
I don't pay my phone bill, my uncle does, so I really want to be conscious about my data usage. Thank you (and sorry, I'm quite new to smart phones!)!

First of all, any cell phone with Wi-Fi never use your cellular minutes or data because it is a feature built into your phone. Just like laptops, they got Wi-Fi too! So never be worried about using up your available minutes. Even if the iPhone was disconnected it can still connect to Wi-Fi without needing phone service.

If you have Wi-Fi enabled you will not be using data as long as you turn off your cellular data once you're connected to Wi-Fi. Facebook and social networking sites will use the most data with updating your stream, upload pictures, viewing friends pictures.

To turn off Cellular Data
1) Go to Settings
2) Go to General
3) Go to Cellular
4) Slide Slider from On to Off

You won't be charged for data while you're connected to Wi-Fi because you're using your own internet you wouldn't get charged for using your own internet

  • When using Kik messenger on iPhone with your data plan, how much mb does it use? I'm getting an iPhone, and I tend to use kik messenger a lot on my blackberry already. How much mb of Internet does Kik use to send and/or receive messages, and picture messages? Is 500mb too low for someone who tends to use it a lot without Wi-Fi? Answers are greatly appreciated.
  • Twitter SMS & Twitter App Mobile Notifications? I have and Iphone 4, currently up to date, etc etc. When I turn on mobile notifications on twitter I receive both the SMS/404-04 text notification and a push notification from my twitter mobile app. I would prefer to receive the notifications from my app only and not SMS. It would be easier to distinguish tweet from normal texts. Plus The SMS notifications leave my texts list messy. I can't figure out how to do this anywhere. Solutions?

And i use twitter.before i got my ohone i just had the twitter notifications to the people i was subscribed to sent to my phone. But i still use that but it sends me notifications too directly from twitter and i just want my texts. But how do i turn off the notifications without turning off my texts.
  • How much data does Facbook and Twitter use up on the iPhone 4s? I'm on Vodafone and i have 500mb a month. I was just wondering if i use these two applications how much data it will use and if i have enough data for them each month?
