Droid Mini for a college student?

Hi, I'm a college student who is typically on campus for 5 hours, then I go to work until around 4. I currently have a Samsung Fascinate (it's old, I know…) and it can't hold a charge from 6:00 AM to 4 PM. So I've been looking into upgrading and I've narrowed it down to iPhone 5, Droid Ultra and Droid Mini. I'm a fan of smaller phones, and I really need one that's going to last me at LEAST 16 hours. Keep in mind it will be on school Wi-Fi, I'll use it lightly (check email occasionally) and it will be charged every night. Will the Droid Mini last me around 16 hours? I'm really curious. The internet is very opinionated, and "battery drain tests" are in my opinion, a flawed way to test a battery. Please give me advice! Thanks! (Sorry it's so long, really need a quality phone.)

No iPhones, I can't afford Applecare at this time.

The problem with small phones is that they have smaller batteries, which just don't last as long.

I'm going to recommend you look at the Google Nexus 5, a very nice phone built for Google by LG. 4.8" screen, fast processor, lots of built-n storage and really great battery life.

  • Will an iphone mini macro lens work with my droid? I really want to get one of those mini macro lenses that attach (magnetically?) onto your smartphone, but all I see are ones for iPhone and I have a Droid. Do they have any for droid phones? Will the iPhone ones still work with droid phones? It seems like it should, since it just goes over the top of the camera lens. If you know please tell me!
  • What's the best laptop for an incoming college student? I'm going to college this fall and I'm torn between a laptop like the dell xps 13 or the Macbook air 13'. I really like the touchscreen option for the dell, but I like apple products, even though I've only ever used an iPad and iPhone. I might use products like photoshop and blendr for fun. I'm so torn. Are MacBooks easy to get used to? Is a touch screen helpful? Which laptop do I get?
  • What's the best camera for a college student? I'm looking for a decent camera under $250 for college. I don't really like using my iPhone as a camera because the pictures aren't great. My main priority is low-light. I don't need a lot of features, just a good camera that takes nice pictures, especially in low-light. Right now I'm leaning towards the Sony Cybershot DSC WX150 (slightly above my price range) or a Canon Powershot 510.
  • Is it possible for an entering college student to realistically survive without a smartphone? (Ranting WELCOME)? I currently have a smartphone (iPhone SE) that is badly cracked, and I've gotten the opportunity to get a new one, which happens to be, a dumbphone. I'm entering college in a few days, with a super high powered, functions I'll probably never use laptop, could I realistically survive in college without a smartphone? Please give the hard truth REAL details… Feel free to rant!
