Dropped my i phone SE in water?

So I dropped my brand new (14 days old) iphone SE in water about 5 hours ago. I was completely sumerged for at least 10 seconds. It was turned on in sleep mode and the first thing I stupidly did was use my fingerprint to unlock and see if it still worked. It did for a few seconds and I sighed relief until the screen went wonky and then completely black. I tried to dry it off with a towel and took the case off. I tried to then power it down but hard to do with a black screen.

I then put it in a bag of rice and left it for a few hours until I read that was not the best course of action.
so I took it out and gave a shake, some water did come out. I took out the sim card and it was dry (thankfuly).

Now it is sitting on a towel air drying where I will leave it for a couple of days.

So what are my chances of survial, be honest… Yet kind. Brand new phone with no warranty.

Just place your phone in some rice (on the back) and put more rice onto OR put cotton balls onto of the phone screen so it can absorb the water fast. IF you go with the cotton ball method, then put rice over everything. Tell both method sit around 12 hrs or so or till it turns on. WHEN you turn it on, hold the lock button and the home button down and hold it for 20 sec OR until it turns on.

Play taps for it and get another one.

It should have been left Undisturbed in the rice for a Full Week.

  • Trading-in my water damaged phone to a phone company. Can they see my personal data? So i'm trading in my iPhone 6 for a newer version as it is water damaged (it won't turn on or anything) and my phone company said that they can recycle it. Does this mean that once they get it working, they will see all of my personal information, including photos, contacts etc? I've taken the SIM card out but I'm not sure what this contains.
  • I dropped my phone into water? I immediately got it out and dried it on its surface it was still working. Then it stopped working at a point. After 4 hours, only then i was able to, i put it in rice. What are the chances that this phone survives? We talk about an iphone 4 s.
  • I dropped my Iphone in water - no water damage showing on indicator? Here is the situation. I dropped my Iphone 5 in the toilet (I hadn't peed yet so all good there). Immediately switched it off, dried it and put it in a bag of rice. This was at about 6 p.m yesterday. This morning without turning it on I opened up the sim compartment to check the circle for water damage (checked online and apparently this is where to check for water damage). The indicator was white. It is back in the rice but I was wondering - when you think it will be ok to turn back on?
  • I dropped my iphone in water and it won't turn on? I dropped my iphone in the toilet about 3 hours ago and right after i picked it up from the water, i put it in rice. The phone turned off by itself and about a few minutes ago i went to check and my phone was hot. So i'm wondering if i should keep it in the rice or do something else?
