Found an iPhone 5 with no sim. How do i return it?
I found an iPhone 5 today on the way home from college but it has no sim and is locked. I want to return it to the owner as they cost a lot however i live in a small town and the local police station has closed down and i don't live near an apple store. I've checked the UK's laws and it's considered theft if i don't take reasonable steps to try and return it so hopefully i get an answer here, thanks.

Don't sell it. The best you can do is goto the college to report it or call a lawyer or someone who knows the steps to take.
Do try to return it put up posters looking for the owner if possible.
Turn the phone on to see if a providers logo pops up. If it does return it to the providers store.
Use the phone as iPod, don't use any SIM. It's not your duty to return if the owner is careless.
Phone the police non-emergency number (101) and ask them.
That puts you in the clear and gives the possibility that you may be able to keep it legally if it's unclaimed.

Depending on how close you were to your college when you found it, hand it in to them. If you were not close to your college, hand it in to the nearest Police station.
